Opening Hours

Note that opening hours may sometimes change at short notice. If travelling to visit a library you are advised to check with the library to confirm details.

Monday - Sunday 8.30am - 11pm

Vacation:

Monday - Sunday 8.30am - 11pm

Closed:

The Library is only closed during periods of College closure such as at Easter, during the Michaelmas vacation, and during the last two weeks of August each year.

We welcome Postgraduates from other Colleges who wish to use material available at HMC but not available in their own College Libraries. To make sure we are available to help you it is wise to contact us in advance by email or telephone.

OU academic and research staff:

The College welcomes all researchers with a need to use our collections. If you have a Bodleian card, please bring it with you; otherwise, please bring some proof of identity such as a passport or a driving licence. A letter of recommendation on headed paper is required if you are from another University. It is important that you contact us in advance to make sure that the items you need to see are available, and that we will be available to assist you with your research.

Subjects Covered

The Tate Library (main Undergraduate collection) and the Carpenter Library (Comparative Religion)can be searched via OLIS. The Antiquarian Book Collection is partially listed on the English Short Title Catalogue. The Manuscript Collection (College history and the history of Protestant Dissent) can be searched via the National Register of Archives.
