The Taylor Institution is the University's centre for the study of Modern European languages and literatures (other than English). The Main Library is the largest specialist research collection in its field in Britain, with a bookstock of over 520k volumes covering the literary and philological aspects of the main European languages (German, Spanish, French, Italian) as well as less commonly-studied ones, (e.g. Portuguese, and the Celtic languages). |
Note that by necessity these policies are much simplified and provided for initial guidance only. Please check with the library for full details.
OU undergraduate students: |
Admissions: all. Borrowing: all 5 TAY items for 7 days + 12 MLF items for 7 days.
3 online renewals are permitted.
After 14 days, items may be reserved by other readers and should be returned to the Library if requested.
Books that are lost or damaged must be paid for(students are reminded that all University debts must be discharged before permission to graduate is given). |
OU postgraduate students: |
Admissions: all. Borrowing: all Taught courses: 12 TAY items for 14 days + 12 MLF items for 7 days; Research courses: 12 TAY items for 28 days + 12 MLF items for 7 days.
3 online renewals are permitted.
After 14 days, items may be reserved by other readers and should be returned to the Library if requested.

Medieval and modern continental European (and related) languages & literatures, predominantly French (including Francophone), German, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese (including Latin American). Also Celtic, Yiddish, Catalan, Gallician etc, Linguistics and Film Studies.
